| NY reports 52,000 graduates from corrections' shock program |

Dec 07, 2015 — ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) New York corrections officials say nearly 52,000 inmates have graduated from the state's shock program with boot-camp style regimentation, discipline, exercise and work. The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision says the six-month program for non-violent offenders has saved the state more than $1 billion since it was established in 1987. Lakeview Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility, in Chautauqua County, last week graduated 34 inmates, raising to total to 50,193. Read More. |
