MADISON (AP) — State agents have spent the last year investigating allegations that security staff at Wisconsin’s youth prison have been using excessive force against inmates, according to the state Department of Corrections secretary. The probe into the Copper Lake/Lincoln Hills School has led to replacing Juvenile Corrections Administrator Paul Westerhaus and CL/LHS Superintendent John Ourada, Corrections Secretary Ed Wall wrote in a letter to division administrators Thursday informing them of the investigation. Corrections spokeswoman Joy Staab said in an email Monday both officials were “relieved of their administrative duties” the same day the letter went out. She didn’t immediately respond to a follow-up email asking her to clarify if Westerhaus and Ourada had been fired, suspended or placed on leave. No residential listing could be found for Westerhaus. A message left at a number for Ourada was not returned. Read More. |
