Lawmakers considering bill to study correction officer suicides

According to data obtained by 5 Investigates more than a dozen corrections officers have taken their lives in recent years.

Now there's a bill on Beacon Hill that may help. State Sen. James Eldridge, D-Acton, has introduced legislation to setup a special commission to study the alarming rate of corrections officer and inmate suicides.

"We have the highest prisoner suicide population in the country and the highest correction officer suicide rate in the country," said Eldridge.
