| 50 children shop with Dept. of Corrections employees through program |

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Employees with the Department of Corrections stepped away from the jail Monday morning, Dec. 14, to shop with local children in the Coat-A-Kid program. The program is a joint effort between the Department of Corrections, Meijer and McDonald's. This year, 50 children selected by their teachers and counselors joined officers to shop for items off their wish-list at the Meijer on Preston Highway. An average of $10,000 is raised every year through fundraising and donations. Read More. |
