| Tanana Chiefs Conference sets up post-release fund for Fairbanks Four |

FAIRBANKS — The Tanana Chiefs Conference has set up a bank account to be used by the Fairbanks Four in the event they’re released soon. The four men convicted of killing Fairbanks teenager John Hartman in 1997 have maintained their innocence since shortly after their arrests. Three of the men, George Frese, Kevin Pease and Eugene Event, remain in prison at the Goose Creek Correctional Center in Southcentral Alaska. They are serving prison sentences ranging from 38 years (Vent) to 79 years (Pease). The fourth, Marvin Roberts, was released on parole this year. The three may get out in the next days or weeks under a deal proposed last week. A Fairbanks judge is now reviewing whether he has the authority to approve the deal. Read More. |
