| NPD hosts police dog training day |

The Nogales Police Department K9 Unit hosted a training day for the Arizona Department of Corrections K9 Academy last Tuesday. Staff from the DOC K9 Academy come to Nogales twice a year for training, NPD said in a news release. The training is conducted in different parts of the city and consists of obedience, detection and patrol, which includes bite work and building and area searches. “The Arizona Department of Corrections K9 Academy staff enjoys training in Nogales, Ariz. because the Nogales Police Department K9 Unit offers great training sites and they enjoy the atmosphere in our border community,” NPD said.
