| Sheriff announces four promotions |

NEWTON — Sheriff Michael F. Strada recently announced four promotions at the Bureau of Corrections. Sergeant Allan O’Gorman has been promoted to lieutenant. A 13-year veteran of the Bureau of Corrections, O’Gorman began his law enforcement career in 1997 as a dispatcher with the Hopatcong Borough Police Department. He served for five years in Hopatcong before being hired by the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer in 2002. He was promoted to sergeant in 2007. Lieutenant O’Gorman holds an associate in Science Degree in Business Administration from the Community College of Morris and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from William Paterson University. Following his promotion, O’Gorman has been assigned to command the 3-11 p.m. shift at the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility. Corrections Officer Eric Groeger has been promoted to Sergeant. A 2002 Hopatcong High School graduate, he attended Sussex County Community College before being hired by the sheriff’s office. A 9-year veteran of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Corrections, Sgt. Groeger was recently awarded the Sheriff’s Honorable Service Award for his assistive actions in successfully saving the life of an inmate during a medical emergency in May of 2015. Following his promotion, Groeger has been assigned as a supervisor on the 3-11 p.m. shift at the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility. Read More. |
