Since the mid-1990s, NIC has promoted an awareness of what has become known internationally as "what works" in correctional practice. Based on cognitive/behavioral and social learning theory, the approach supports the effective case management of offenders and promotes pro-social behavior. Treatment and sanctions are both considered to be essential tools for achieving the criminal justice mission. Support, modeling, and involvement from agency management are essential to achieve success. http://www.nicic.org/WebPage_49.htm |
