| Franklin County Jail expansion plan awaits survey results |

With the start of the New Year, Franklin County Sheriff Tim Fuller is optimistic about getting closer to resolving the jail overcrowding problem plaguing the facility since around 2008. “We have met with the architectural firm (recently), and basically we’re trying to assess what our needs are going to be with the expansion,” he said. “We know what our numbers are, but if you’re housing more people you’re going to need more storage room, more laundry capabilities — our laundry runs 24/7 right now, with the numbers we have.” Recently, OLG Engineering Inc., based in Tullahoma, was contracted to conduct a thorough survey of the Franklin County Jail to come up with a feasible expansion plan.
