Five inmates injured in fight at Lee Correctional Institution

BISHOPVILLE, SC

South Carolina Department of Corrections officials said a fight broke out among inmates at the Lee Correctional Institution Tuesday evening.

Officials said the fight began in one half of one of the housing units, which resulted in five inmates in need of medical treatment after sustaining non life-threatening wounds.

Officials also said that at no point during the confrontation was there a threat to public safety or the safety of officers and staff at the facility.
