| GCSC expands correctional, law enforcement programs |

The staff at Gulf Coast State College’s Gulf/Franklin Campus have big plans for the new year. Over the next two months, the campus in Port St. Joe will launch new classes in its correctional officer basic standards and law enforcement courses along with a new corrections/law enforcement crossover program. The three-month correctional officer basic standards program, the backbone of the corrections certification program, kicks off Jan. 25. Boasting a 96 percent job-placement rating for graduates within a year of completion, the program focuses on training students to take the state board test at the end of the program. A passing grade certifies the pupil to work at any correctional institution in the state. And with 67 counties in Florida, options abound. Read More. |
