| 5 Investigates: Haverhill man dies while in sheriff's custody |

HAVERHILL, Mass. —5 Investigates has learned a 29-year-old Haverhill man who had been civilly committed died while in the custody of the Essex County Sheriff's Department early Thursday morning. Sam Dunn was being transported to the Massachusetts Treatment Center in Bridgewater. At the time, the center was on lockdown after a disturbance inside so Dunn couldn't be moved and was kept in the van. Sources tell 5 investigates Dunn had been in the van for more than two hours when the Essex County transport officers noticed he was in distress. Read More. |
