| Lockdown to continue through weekend at state penitentiary unit |

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) — The Mississippi Department of Corrections says the lockdown in Unit 29 at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman will continue through the weekend. A homicide on December 18 in the unit led to the lockdown. State corrections officials say unrelated contraband was found at the facility later in the month. The lockdown will also continue through the weekend at the South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Greene County. Read More. |
