| State lawmakers focus on tragic prison error in legislative session |

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — State lawmakers returned to the Olympia for Monday’s start of the 60-day legislative session. They hit the floor running in the senate, with a work session to discuss the early release of thousands of prisoners. Department of Corrections Secretary Dan Pacholke apologized again. “I apologize for this tragic error. For me there is no more difficult thing to do than call a mother who has lost a child, and inform them that the failure of government has impacted their child’s life.
