| Blount Corrections Partnership to review latest jail report |

The Blount County Corrections Partnership on Tuesday will meet with a County Technical Assistance Service consultant to discuss his new report on overcrowded conditions at the jail. Jim Hart, Jail Management Consultant at CTAS, will be attending the meeting of the committee. The current Justice Center opened in 1999. The jail, which is only certified for 350 inmates, failed a Tennessee Corrections Institute inspection in June 2012 due to overcrowding. The Tennessee Corrections Institute extended the jail’s certification until this year under the condition that the Blount County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with the BCCP. Read More. |
