DENVER – After state corrections officials announced Colorado’s most notorious killer had been transferred and was no longer inside a Colorado state prison, it prompted a few questions about the interstate corrections agreement. State corrections officials will not disclose where Aurora theater shooter James Holmes had been transferred, but told 9NEWS Wednesday he was no longer housed in a state prison. “They do exchange prisoners on a fairly regular basis for various reasons,” Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey said. Morrissey was not connected to the Holmes case, but has experience with interstate prison transfers. Brent Brents, a 2005 Denver rape convict, requested not to be housed in the state prison system.
