| Prisoner detained on suspicion of killing cellmate |

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation authorities believe a Barstow man killed his prison cellmate at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano. It is the third suspected inmate homicide there in three months. Thrasher L. Holmeyer, 33, has been placed in the prison's Administrative Segregation Unit while prison and law enforcement authorities investigate the death of 30-year-old Brandon J. Lowrey, according to a Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation news release. Lowrey was found unresponsive in his cell about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, the news release said. He was transported via ambulance to a hospital where he died about an hour later. Read More. |
