PUTNAMVILLE, Indiana — State correction officials plan to discuss an outbreak of a severe, flu-like illness that's killed one inmate and sickened more than two dozen others at a western Indiana prison. Putnamville Correctional Facility Superintendent Brian Smith and Dr. Michael Mitcheff, the Indiana Department of Correction's medical director, scheduled a Tuesday afternoon news conference at a State Police post near the prison.
