New device helps inmates learn and communicate

With the help of technology, Georgia inmates are turning to a new way of learning and communicating.

The Georgia Department of Corrections introduced the Georgia Offender Alternative Learning devices or G.O.A.L devices.

Officials said these tablets allow offenders to have access to educational materials and are pre-loaded with inmate handbooks and a motivational book.

Offenders can you use these tablets anywhere in the facility but can not use them to connect to the internet.
