| Corrections Director responds to Governor Fallin's State of the State Address |

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Governor Mary Fallin delivered her annual State of the State address Monday afternoon on the first day of the 2016 Legislative Session. Her budget proposal includes $20 million more for the Corrections Department this year and $10 million more next year. She also called for sentencing reform to reduce prison overcrowding. Oklahoma Department of Corrections Director Joe Allbaugh released the following statement regarding the Governor's speech: "I deeply appreciate Governor Fallin proposing additional money to address the agency's immediate needs, which will allow the agency to better protect the public. We will use the money to fill critical openings in understaffed areas; locate additional beds to house our population, currently at 119 percent; and fix some of the crumbling infrastructure of those facilities, which poses risks to the staff and offenders.
