ATLANTA – The city’s Department of Corrections (DOC) announced the launch of its new Love Our City community improvement campaign, which is aimed at beautifying the city while giving inmates an opportunity to perform productive community service. Between February 1 and February 14, 2016, the department will accept requests for trash, debris and graffiti clean-up and removal. Beautification projects will begin on February 15th and continue until all requests have been fulfilled. The work will be completed by inmates who participate in the Inmate Work Detail Program at the Atlanta City Detention Center. “The Atlanta Department of Corrections continues to play an active role in the cleaning and upkeep of Atlanta’s streets and city facilities,” said DOC Chief Patrick Labat. “The Love Our City community improvement campaign aims to highlight community pride and our department’s commitment to service.” To submit a request, please call the 311 customer service line Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. or send an email to www.DOCCleanUp@Atlantaga.gov. Please include Love Our City in the subject line. Requests including but not limited to trash pick-up, grass cutting, debris removal, painting over graffiti and boarding abandoned buildings, will be reviewed and scheduled by the Atlanta Department of Corrections. Any requests received by the DOC that do not fall within the scope of the department’s capabilities will be forwarded to the appropriate city agency for consideration. Read More. |
