| Clark County Community Corrections to hire case manager |

JEFFERSONVILLE — Clark County Community Corrections got approval Monday to hire an additional home detention day manager to handle an increasing flow of cases. The Clark County Council on approved a request by Danielle Grissett, director of Community Corrections in Clark County, to proceed with hiring a person to fill this spot at $31,456 with a 4-2 vote, with councilmen Danny Yost and Steve Doherty in opposition. Council President Barbara Hollis was not present. The position will be paid by the department's cash balance until an expected grant from the Department of Corrections grant is received this summer. The need for the position comes after state legislation that took effect in July that Level 6 felons — those with things such as minor drug possession and alcohol charges for instance — can no longer go to the Department of Correction.
