Mark Miller of Flower Mound is a freelance journalist and is skeptical by nature. But he says a call he took early last year raised no initial red flags. "This one for whatever reason I still don't know why caught me like, 'this one may be legit,'" Miller said to himself. The man on the other line said he was with Flower Mound Police. At the time, Miller did not know he was being scammed. "They would spoof our phone number. So the caller ID would show the Flower Mound Police Department was calling," said Capt.
