| Corrections secretary to announce prison programs |

SUNBURY — State Department of Corrections Secretary John Wetzel will be at the state Correctional Institution at Muncy on Friday discussing department of corrections issues at the woman’s facility. Wetzel will be speaking about the importance of education, specifically early childhood education, and its impact at the institution, department of corrections secretary Susan McNaughton said. Wetzel will discuss children who have incarcerated parents and the need to break the generational cycle of incarceration and how that can be done through education, McNaughton said. Wetzel will also unveil Child Resource Centers that will be placed in every state prison facility visiting area to serve as a one-stop shop, so to speak, where caregivers of children can obtain a wealth of information about services for children, McNaughton said.
