| More than 7,000 cellphones confiscated from Oklahoma prisons |

OKLAHOMA CITY —Prison officials are confiscating more cellphones that have been smuggled into Oklahoma prisons. Joe Allbaugh, director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, said smuggling contraband into prisons has been a big problem for years. In recent years, he said more cellphones have been making their way inside prison walls. “The gangs on the outside are pushing more of the phones to the gangs on the inside,” Allbaugh said. Last year, 7,705 cellphones were seized from Oklahoma prisons. That is seven times the amount of cellphones seized in 2010, which was 1,070 cellphones. Read More. |
