In March 2015, Finney County voters approved a quarter-cent countywide sales tax to finance construction of a new building that will house court services, youth services and community corrections. Finney County Administrator Randy Partington says it’s hard to believe that the building that was first discussed just two years ago is now more than halfway done, according to its construction schedule. Construction began in August 2015, and the $6.3 million, 24,000-square-foot building located near the Juvenile Detention Center on Santa Fe Street between 12th and 13th streets is on schedule to open in July. Judges presidentially appointed to serve during good behavior since 1789 on the U.S. district courts, U.S. courts of appeals, Supreme Court of the United States, as well as the former U.S. circuit courts, Court of Claims, U.S. Customs Court, and U.S. Court of Customs and Patent Appeals.
