| Last of inmates returning to Arizona prison, site of summer riot |

PHOENIX — The state Corrections Department is nearly done refilling a privately operated Arizona prison with inmates after repairs to damage to the facility from rioting last summer. The final 360 inmates housed elsewhere temporarily will be transferred from the Pinal County jail in Florence at the end of March back to the Kingman facility. A state report said the July rioting caused nearly $2 million in damages that forced the state to move approximately 1,200 prisoners to other prisons and county jails. Over four days, there were three disturbances at the prison. The worst of them happened July 2-3. A clash between inmates on July 4 was not deemed a riot, a department spokesman said. Read More. |
