WILKES-BARRE — The director of the county’s minimal offenders unit will be in charge of security at the prison when the current division leader leaves. Peter Cwalina, the director of the county’s Minimal Offenders Unit, will be in charge of daily security in the Correctional Service Division, said Acting County Manager David Pedri. The current division head, J. Allen Nesbitt, is leaving to take a position with a nonprofit drug, alcohol and criminal justice organization elsewhere in the state. He announced his decision at a Feb. 9 council meeting, and today is his last day in the job. At that meeting, Nesbitt said he would appoint James Larson as acting warden/director of corrections and Grace Franks as acting deputy warden. Read More. |
