| Department Of Corrections Reports Assault On Officers In Tecumseh State Prison |

TECUMSEH – Ten months after the Tecumseh State Prison riot, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services reported an incident Monday involving three corrections officers being assaulted by inmates. According to a press release from communications director Andrew Nystrom, at about 3:50 p.m. Monday, three staff members were assaulted at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution. All three NDCS staff were taken to the local hospital where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that, during an escort, an inmate from SMU West (a maximum-custody general population unit housing 100 inmates) struck the staff member escorting him.
