Man shot by Harriman police ID’d as state corrections officer

The man shot during a confrontation with Harriman police officers Tuesday night has been placed on paid administrative leave from his job as a state corrections officer, a spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

Nathan Manis, 27, has worked as a corrections officer at the Morgan County Correctional Complex in Wartburg since 2011, said Tennessee Department of Correction spokesman Robert Reburn.

Manis remained at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, where his condition was not available Wednesday.
