| County corrections officers ink proposed union contract |

LACONIA — The County Commissioners and Department of Corrections employees have successfully negotiated a new union contract. The 21 members of the Belknap County DOC staff, who are represented by the State Employees’ Association, unanimously voted to ratify the proposed two-year collective bargaining agreement on Thursday. Funding will have to be approved by the Belknap County Delegation. Commission Chairman Dave DeVoy (R-Sanbornton) said under the terms of the proposed agreement, the county will save $64,000 over the life of the two-year contract, and employees will receive an increase in salary in the form of step increases and cost of living adjustments. The proposal calls for DOC employees to receive a step increase on the anniversary date of their hire in years one and two; a cost of living increase of 1.4 percent the first year and a COLA ranging from a low of 1 percent to a high of 2.5 percent in the second, linked to the Consumer Price Index.
