| Jail overcrowding impacting multiple counties |

The Amos G. Ward Detention Facility was given a 60-day notice this month to correct a deficiency listed in a jail inspection report by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. The report, dated March 3, stated the jail did not meet Oklahoma jail standards due to overcrowding, and noted five out of 10 pods have inmates sleeping on the floor in “boats with mats.” The recommendation by the state was for the jail to reduce overcrowding by “transferring inmates to another county jail, if possible, use ankle bracelets, bond reductions and early release programs.” Read More. |
