Inmate found dead at Attica prison in upstate New York

An inmate died at Attica prison earlier this month, according the state department of corrections.

Sharrowl Davis, 34, was serving a sentence of 20 to life for murder and robbery charges.

He entered department custody in 2001 after he was convicted for his role in a marijuana deal gone bad in the tiny Monroe County town of Chili, according to court records.

Davis died on March 14 while in custody at Attica, though prison officials did not release any information about the circumstances of his death.
