A Covington County inmate in the custody of the Alabama Department of Corrections on work release in Coffee County escaped from his job site on Tuesday afternoon. Joseph Thomas Butts, 28, left his assigned job location in Elba at about 12:30 p.m., according to the Department of Corrections. He is an inmate at Elba Work Release Center. Butts was convicted in here in 2014 on the charge of manufacturing a controlled substance. He was sentenced to serve 12 years and 6 months in jail. Read More. |
