A corrections officer at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln was assaulted by an inmate Sunday, the Nebraska Department of Corrections said. The officer was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening and released, said Andrew Nystrom, a department spokesman. The names of the officer and the inmate were being withheld until an investigation is complete.
