| Heater caused fire at JBCC |

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections said an electrical heater was the cause of a fire at the laundry building at Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester last week. “An electrical heater fell on a gas line and started the fire,” DOC spokesperson Terri Watkins said. The fire was reported Friday afternoon at 4:32 p.m.,according to McAlester Fire Department Chief Brett Brewer. The laundry building is its own building, according to Brewer.
