| Dozens Apply for Corrections Officer Positions |

WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- Investigators say they need more people in our jail, and dozens of folks showed up to take on the job. Nearly 50 men and women came to Harlem High School to show the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department they have what it takes to be a corrections officer. The department is looking to fill 20 positions. Applicants took physical and written tests. The sheriff's department says the job is very demanding and there's a high turnover rate due to long hours and hard labor. However, they say helping the community is what makes the job worth while.
