| Prisons see three-fold increase in inmate assaults of corrections workers |

Inmate assaults of corrections officers at Nebraska's prisons increased threefold in a recent three-year period. Assaults by inmates went from 32 in 2013 to 59 in 2014 to 94 in 2015, the three years in which the state's prisons have been plagued with increasingly crowded conditions. That includes nine assaults with serious injuries to staff, defined as injuries that need urgent medical treatment, more than first aid, and restrict the injured person's usual activity. Read More. |
