| Corrections officers save suicidal arrestee |

LACONIA — Quick action by correctional officers is being credited for helping to save the life of a woman who tried to kill herself on Sunday at the Belknap County jail. Superintendent Lt. Keith Gray confirmed the woman was taken by ambulance to Lakes Region General Hospital for treatment, after she was discovered by jail staff shortly after 9 p.m. The 37-year-old woman had been brought to the jail following her arrest by Laconia police on Sunday evening, and about 90 minutes later, was discovered unconscious after using her shirt to hang herself. The correctional officer who found the woman immediately called for help, bringing three other officers and a nurse to assist while the Laconia Fire Department responded. Read More. |
