| Prisoner sues Aramark after rocks in taco lead to chipped teeth |

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – An Upper Peninsula prison inmate is suing Aramark for allegedly serving rocks in a taco, which he says caused him to crack and chip his teeth. Jeffrey Glen Spates said he was eating at Chippewa Correctional Facility, in Kincheloe, when he bit down on three rocks. He said he endured months of pain and required dental surgery. The alleged incident happened in 2014, when Aramark Correctional Services was the state's prison food contractor. Michigan terminated a three-year contract with the company following a litany of issues including maggots in kitchens, rotten food, food partially eaten by rodents, and allegations of workers having sexual relations with inmates.
