| Inmate attacks officer at McLaren, attempts escape |

An Isabella County Jail inmate is now facing even more charges after he attacked and tried to grab a corrections officer’s gun in the McLaren Hospital Emergency room Saturday evening. The man, who has not yet been charged for the incident, was in jail after being arrested Friday, April 8 on warrants from the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal Police Department and the Michigan Department of Corrections. His name has not been released, but police said he is a 22-year-old Native American from Mt. Pleasant, on parole after serving two years in prison for felony home invasion and drug charges. Saturday he was reportedly ill at the jail and was transported to McLaren Central Hospital Emergency Room for treatment.
