After Statesman Journal articles shed light on correctional officer misconduct, Department of Corrections Director Colette Peters is acknowledging the incidents but standing by her staff. The articles, along with a searchable database of nearly 300 officer misconduct reports, showed that complacency among officers has at times led to unsafe situations at state prisons.
