| Federal agency to conduct review of Durham detention facility |

DURHAM, N.C. – The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) will conduct an operational review of the Durham County Detention Facility on Wednesday and Thursday, the Durham County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday. In October 2015, Sheriff Mike Andrews requested the NIC review the detention facility in response to community concerns. “When I contacted the National Institute of Corrections, I wanted an objective top-to-bottom look at our facility and its staff,” Andrews said in a written release. “I believe a federal agency with the expertise and resources is the most qualified to recommend the best practices for our facility.” Read More. |
