WORCESTER -- Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.'s office has dropped charges against Jaime Fuentes, the correction officer accused of holding a gun to his girlfriend's head in February 2015. The Telegram & Gazette is reporting that the victim, the state's primary witness, invoked her Fifth Amendment rights and refused to testify. Without that evidence, the state dropped its case on Tuesday. Fuentes, an Army veteran and a 25-year corrections officer, has been on administrative leave since the incident. That was when Nellie Rivera, his live-in girlfriend for the previous five years, reported that Fuentes had held her against a wall by her throat and pressed a gun against her forehead.
