DANNEMORA — Two correction officers at Clinton Correctional Facility were injured when an inmate attacked them, officials say. And their union says the incident underscores the ongoing need to make the state's prisons safer for both employees and inmates. At about 8:10 p.m. on April 6, inmate Eneudis Ocasio, 32, was being disruptive in the commissary area, according to a New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association Inc. press release, and an officer ordered him out to the hallway so he could be frisked and escorted back to the cell block. Once there, Ocasio swung and hit the officer several times on both sides of his face, knocking the officer off his feet and onto his back, NYSCOPBA said. Read More. |
