DOC staff deserves credit for positive efforts, successes

In response to the April 17 editorial, “Prison misconduct must stop,” Corrections Director Colette Peters, in my opinion, is doing what is necessary to manage a department and reduce the negative effect of the 1 percent of its employee work force described in the April 10 report.

The 99 percent of dedicated employees are taking the brunt of the negative reporting on the 1 percent as a personal attack on their already difficult job. The disingenuous comment about the department being “more worried about employees’ hurt feelings” appears to be a personal attack aimed at Colette Peters. The department has been “rooting out” problems long before your report.

Do you report for public scrutiny on the 1 percent of your work force with unacceptable behavior?
