| Jail renovations will improve security in Baxter County |

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (KY3) Arkansas prisoners are working to make one jail in the Ozarks tougher to break out of. The construction project is happening in Mountain Home. The Baxter County sheriff says over the years, several inmates have been able to escape from the recreation yard. “This is something we’ve been planning for a long time, but due to lack of funding, we’ve had to do it in stages,” said Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery. He says inmates from the Arkansas Department of Correction are building a taller wall for their recreational area. “Saves us a lot of money, at the same time, it’s getting them out here to do something positive for the community,” he said.
