ANCHORAGE (KTUU) Anchorage police say that dozens of break-ins, car thefts and other crimes this year are the work of a criminal ring. The group included a man who shot at a trooper car Friday and another who escaped Saturday from a Downtown halfway house, a police captain said. Auto thefts doubled in the first four months of 2016, compared to the previous year. Police now say that 60 to 80 thefts, break-ins and related crimes appear to be the work of a loosely affiliated group that included 42-year-old Tagaloa “Rocky” Tanuvasa. Facing charges of felony theft and auto theft, Tanuvasa walked away from the Cordova Center halfway house on Saturday, according to APD. Police on Monday issued a plea for help to find the Anchorage man, who now faces an additional charge of felony escape. Read More. |
