TRENTON - Convicted baby killer-turned-fugitive-turned-captive Arthur Buckel is listed in custody at New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, the state's "only completely maximum security institution," according to the state Department of Corrections website. The Trenton fortress houses about 1,600 of "the most difficult and/or dangerous offenders in the inmate population," the site shows. The Corrections Department website describes the facility, opened in 1836, as the oldest prison in the state and one of the oldest in the country. Syed Hassan, a spokesman for the department, would only say that Buckel was being held at a "secure facility." Buckel's profile on the Corrections Department site shows him held at "NJSP." Hassan confirmed the abbreviation stands for New Jersey State Prison. Read More. |
