ALBUQUERQUE — The Department of Corrections has outlined a pay structure that would increase the minimum compensation for officers across the state and help with recruitment within the department beset by staffing shortages, officials said. Spokeswoman Alex Tomlin said Wednesday the minimum pay increases will go into effect in July at the start of the state’s new fiscal year. Under the new structure, the minimum compensation for a correctional officer will be $16.43 — up from $12.61. At the higher end of the pay spectrum, a deputy prison director would increase from $37.09 to $43.74. Read More. |
